Brief information about Parbhani city and district

Parbhani, formerly known as “Prabhatinagar”, is one of the eight districts of Marathwada in Maharashtra. The entire district geographical area of Marathwada was a part of the erstwhile Nizam State, later a part of the Hyderabad State, after the reorganization of states in 1956 it became a part of the then Bombay State and since 1960 it has been a part of the state. Present state of Maharashtra. Between 18.45 and 20.10 North latitude and 76.13 and 77.39 East longitude, lies Parbhani district. It is bordered by Hingoli district to the north. It is bordered by Nanded district on the east, Latur district on the south and Beed district on the west while Jalna district on the west. To the west, the state capital is Mumbai and Parbhani is connected by road to other important cities of Maharashtra as well as Andhra Pradesh.

Parbhani district has a total population of 1,636,086 as per 2011 census. People mainly speak Marathi, Hindi, English and Urdu languages.

How to reach

By Road:

The National Highway, which connects the states of Telangana and Maharashtra, passes through the city, providing connectivity to Mumbai and Hyderabad. These highways open up further connectivity options for Parbhani, connecting it to the northeastern cities of Indore, Jhansi, Agra and the north-south cities of Varanasi, Nagpur, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Kanyakumari. Parbhani is connected to other states like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. MSRTC Parbhani Division has several daily buses between Parbhani and other metros of Maharashtra.

By Train :

Parbhani railway station is a junction on the Secunderabad-Manmad section of the South Central Railway. Parbhani is connected by rail to the major cities of Aurangabad, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Ajmer in Maharashtra. It is also connected to other Indian cities like New Delhi, Ajmer, Hyderabad, Nizamabad, Visakhapatnam and Chennai.
