Temple of Yogeshwari Devi
Sri Yogeshwari is Bhushan of Ambanagari. Firstly the untouchables have adopted the literary and culturally respectable Maharashtrian mind. Among them, two poets are notable for the samadhi of poet Sri Mukundaraj and Navkot Narayan, the saint poet of Marathi literature. Due to this reason, the importance of Ambanagari has increased and in ancient times the city was situated among other cities like Bushan Bhoot (Nagar Bhushan Bhava). Because Yogeshwari had a Shaktipitha, it acquired the status of a sacred pilgrimage site and is still there today.
Ambajogi Yogeshwari Devi Temple – Ambajogai is famous for Yogeshwari Temple located 25 km from Parli Vaijnath, this temple is one of the most revered temples in Beed district. Yogeshwari is a Sanskrit name meaning “Goddess Durga”. Sri Yogeshwari is an ancient temple of Goddess Durga, located in Ambejogai, one of the Goddess Shaktipeeths.
Yogeshwari Temple is dedicated to Goddess Yogeshwari who fulfills all the wishes of her devotees. The Yogeshwari temple is located on the west side of the Jayanti river that flows through the city. The structure of the temple is Hemadpanthi style. Devi Ambabai Yogeshwari is a Sanskrit name meaning “Goddess Durga”. Yogeshwari Devi of Ambajogai is Marathwada’s own pilgrimage site. Sri Yogeshwari is an ancient temple of Goddess Durga, located in Ambejogai, one of the Goddess Shaktipeeths.
Ambajogai town has many stories from Hindu mythology, named after Devi Amba, a form of Goddess Parvati. Situated on the banks of river Jayavanti, this city was also known as Jayavantinagar. The historic and oldest temple of Yogeshwari Devi is famous since ancient times. The structure of the temple is in Hemadpanti style. The delicate carvings on the pillars are very attractive. The Yogeshwari temple has a large main entrance facing east. A ‘Nagarkhana’ – space for musicians and ‘Deepmal’ stands in front of the main gate. Upon entering the temple complex through the eastern entrance, devotees see a towering tower surrounded by four smaller towers. The tall tower is decorated with paintings of gods and goddesses. The delicate carvings on the pillars are very attractive. Adjacent to the north gate is the ‘Sarveshwar Tirtha’. Adjacent to the west gate are temples of various deities.
At 5:00 AM loud bhajans are heard over the temple loudspeakers. Tambul Prasad in the temple is a unique thing in this temple. Tambul Prasad consists of crushed leaves. Sakshi Ganesh Temple which is within walking distance. It is said that everyone who comes to the temple remembers this Ganapati.
