Vaidyanath Temple
Parli Vaijnath is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples. This Jyotirlinga is in the Beed district of Maharashtra, India and Parli Vaijnath is a station on the South Central Railway. Parli Vaijnath is also known as Parli Vaidyanath. Vaidyanath Jayanti is on the day of Mahashivratri. It is also the main place/headquarters of Parli Vaijnath taluka.
Vaidyanath temple in Parli is famous and among the 12 jyotirlingas of India, the position of Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga of Parli is considered to be clear. This temple is said to have been built during the time of the Yadavas of Devagiri by their chieftain Srikaranadhipa Hemadri. Punyashlok Rani Ahilyabai Holkar restored this temple. This temple is cherebandi and is magnificent. The long steps and the grand entrance are the places that attract attention in the temple premises. As the gabhara of the temple and the assembly hall are on the same level, the Jyotirlinga can be seen from the assembly hall. Nowhere else, but only at Vaidyanath, one can touch God and have darshan. There are three big tanks in the temple area. Three kilometers away from the temple is the Someshwar temple at Jirewadi at an altitude of 300 feet on the banks of Brahmanadi.
Parli Vaijnath is 25 km from nearby Ambejogai. I. is at a distance. So 60 km from Parbhani. is at a distance. From these places, there is constant vehicle access to Vaijnath. There is a thermal power station at Parli. Here is an industrial estate.
There is another Vaijnath temple in Deoghar village of Santhal Pargana in Jharkhand state of India. It is also called Baba Baijnath or Vaidyanath. This is also believed to be one of the twelve Jyotirlingas.

Aundha Nagnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is considered one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas in India. Other Jyotirlinga shrines in Maharashtra are Aundha Nagnath near Hingoli, Trimbakeshwar near Nashik, Ghrishneshwar near Aurangabad and Bhimshankar. Although the exact date of the construction of the temple is not known, experts believe that it belongs to the Yadava period which dates back to the 12th or 13th century AD. There are records that Ahlyadevi Holkar restored the temple in the year 1706.
Many legends are connected with this temple. One such story of Satyavan and Savitri is said to have taken place at Parli. There is also a legend in the Ramayana that Ravana stopped here while on his way to Lanka with Shivalinga. It is said that in order to free himself, Ravana asked a cowherd to hold the Shivling for some time. However, the boy could not do so for long and he kept him on the earth, which is how Jyotirlinga takes place here. It is believed that Shiva decided to reside here in the form of Vaidyanatheshwar.
The temple is built on the hill using stones. Facing east, the temple has two gates in south and north directions. The temple premises have a large teak wood hall and spacious corridors for circumambulation. Adding to the beauty of the temple are two lakes that also have religious significance. The Shivlinga in the Vaidyanath temple is of Shaligram stone.
The best time to visit the temple is during the festivals of Ekadashi, Vijayadashami and Maha Shivratri when a large number of devotees come to visit the temple.
