Sarola Forest Tourism- Per Mahismal

Sarola is a forest tourism center in Aurangabad district. This place is about 24 km from Aurangabad city and 1000 m above sea level. Due to its high altitude, it has been given the status of a cool air destination. Nestled in the lap of mountains and hidden in dense forests, Sarola is a great day trip destination for Aurangabad residents. This place is still not very famous compared to Mahismal. The development of this place has started since 2008.

What to see

The forest department has created two view points to see the scenery at Sarola. The first view point is in the front. This view point is about 45 meters long and there is a rest house at the top. There is a climbing path behind the temple next to the cliff without going on the vehicular road. Standing at this view point, one can have a very beautiful view of the back side of the Sarola mountain, the mountain ranges and valleys around this Sarola village. A Tumdar Pagoda has been erected here by the Forest Department. If you wait long enough, you can hear the singing of peacocks in the lower forest here.

The second view point is built on the other ridge but the vehicular path here is not used as it is never used. While descending the first ridge and climbing again, you have to make your way through thick bushes. As the path climbs up through thick bushes, a long stretch of plateau can be seen. A watch tower has been erected by the forest department here. From this one can see a panoramic view of this plateau. From this view point one can see the beautiful plateau on one side and the opposite side of the Sarola hill i.e. the side towards Aurangabad city on the other side. The majestic lake of Harsul can be seen towards the city of Aurangabad. A gray image of Aurangabad spread east west. If the atmosphere is clear, the tall tower of Doordarshan in Hudko, as well as the new airport in Chikhalthana can be predicted. One can imagine how the city of Aurangabad, situated in the middle of the horizontal hill ranges, could have been kept safe during the historical period.

After coming down from the cliff, there is a small Ganapati temple. Next to this temple there is a water tank (tank) carved in stone. The devotees say that the water coming from the spring in the ground is suitable for drinking. Although there is no definite information about when this cistern was dug, it must be ancient.

Downwards from here there is also dense vegetation, but if you descend a little, you can see the source of a beautiful stream here. This stream has water only if it has rained a lot, other times it is dry. If you go down from the stream, you can find a path and get down directly to where you left the vehicle. On the way, the Samadhi of some devotee is also seen.

way to go

On the way from Aurangabad towards Ajantha, there is a small ford, crossing it is the International Buddhist School, a little further on the right hand side is the Sarola indicating board of the forest department, after turning in, the road goes directly to Sarola village. It is necessary to have own vehicle to go here. Public transport is not available due to lack of traffic. Due to the Ghatmatha road and sparse population, it is advisable to use a vehicle in good condition.
