Siddheshwar Dam

Siddheshwar dam in Hingoli district is also surrounded by nature. The entire area surrounded by water, various birds, small mountain ranges around, ancient trees of old age, agriculture around all this natural environment, one does not want to go back after coming to this place. Siddheshwar Dam is a dam on the Purna River, a tributary of the Godavari River. This dam is located in the northwestern part of Aundha Nagnath in Hingoli district of Maharashtra, India.

This dam was built during the time of Yashwantrao Chavan, the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra state. The dam serves the purpose of irrigation for Aundha Nagnath and Basmath talukas in Hingoli. It also supplies drinking water to nearby towns like Nanded and Basmath.

The proposed site for the Light Interferometer Gravitational Observatory (LIGO-India) is about 6 km from the dam.

The height of the dam above the lowest base is 38.26 m (125.5 ft), while the length is 6,353.2 m (20,844 ft). The total storage capacity is 0.251 km3 (0.060 cu mi) and the direct storage capacity is 0.081 km3 (0.019 cu mi).[2] It is also known as Rupur Camp.

To reach the dam, there is a route from Aundha Nagnath via Golegaon, Matha, Dhar, Rupur Camp to Siddheshwar Dam. – There is no bus system up to the dam. – One has to go to the dam by private vehicle from Dharphata. This distance is eight kilometers.
